Welcome!

Welcome to the Punk and Vegetarian Recipes blog. This blog will discuss punk bands and various vegetarian or vegan recipes.

What is punk? Punk is more than music. It's about creativity, community, equality, individuality, politics, questioning, self-expression, and unity. It is a lifestyle not a trend.

Women Have Hope in Italy

For the past couple decades with Berlusconi in power of Italy women were being objectified even more than usual. Now that he has lost his power, Mario Monti has taken his place and is giving power to strong influential women in his cabinet; ministers of the interior, justice, and labor. He did this not based on looks but credibility, unlike his predecessor. Amongst giving power to these women, he also emphasized, in a recent speech, how he plans to increase women participation in the labor force.

Right now in Italian culture you can see an immense amount of objectification of women in the news and other media outlets.

What Mario is proposing  and what he has done is a great small step for the Italian society. Hopefully it will tear down their walls of objectification and give women more advantages.

  1. I agree with your post. I'm Italian and I live in Sardinia which is suppose to be south italy or sometimes central italy (I'm not talking about geographical features or what else, I'm talking about culture - well, you know, northern Italy and southern Italy are really different). In my opinion the problem is (or has been) Berlusconi but the Vatican. Italy is a province of the Vatican. Have you heard about this "creepy" story:
