Welcome!

Welcome to the Punk and Vegetarian Recipes blog. This blog will discuss punk bands and various vegetarian or vegan recipes.

What is punk? Punk is more than music. It's about creativity, community, equality, individuality, politics, questioning, self-expression, and unity. It is a lifestyle not a trend.

Burgerama @ The Observatory

Off!
March 24 - Burgerama at The Observatory

"We're the new kids on the block" said Keith Morris, lead singer of Off! right before they started playing. He later corrected a fan that they were not Black Flag, and they are the band Off! which are in fact the "new kids on the block."

As soon as the first chord started playing the entire band started moving around in a frantic dance per se. Jumping around playing their fast riffs on guitar and bass. The guitarist, Dimitri,  constantly jumping while maintaining the tempo and notes. Moving and jumping back and forth between the drummer and the front end of the stage. The drummer, Mario,  rocking out while keeping the quick beat. He was constantly shaking and bopping his head along with the beat. The bassist,  Steven, was moving around everywhere on the other end of the stage. He was thrashing his body forwards and backwards with the songs. While in the center the vocalist, Keith, was running around singing the songs aggressively with a passion.

They played all their favorite songs such as; "I Don't Belong," and a few new songs from their upcoming record due out in May.

The amount of energy that came out throughout the band's performance was insane. It was quite a show. All their songs are fast, loud, and energetic. All that energy radiated from the band to the crowd. They had an immense amount of energy to jump around constantly with their instruments throughout the entire set. Constant movement and excitement. They had the most energy out of all the bands that played.

The entire mini festival was an awesome experience. There was a good mix of musical styles amongst the bands. Which made Burgerama a good concert to attend.  Fidlar was a good way to start the night off on the main stage. They had an awesome stage presence and continued to get the crowd pumped throughout the set. Another notable performance with an amazing stage presence was Ty Segall; where he literally got on top of the crowd to play his guitar and sing. Constantly stage diving to crowd surf as he played guitar.

The other bands were also good, just not as strong of a stage presence. They were King Tuff,  The Tyde,  White Fence (only complain I have on the band was one of their songs seemed extended, repetitive, and dull), The Abigails, and Strange Boys.

Wavves was the main performance. They played a good show, they were able to get the crowd pumped, excited, and dancing. It was a good way to end the night. It was a great ending to a good night.

However, I would say that Off! and Ty Segall had the best performances throughout the entire night. They had the most energy and constantly interacted with the crowd through stage diving or vocally. Getting the crowd more involved is what made them stand out. If they play near your area, I would recommend watching them!

Bands I was not able to see due to split stages, and staying at the main stage to watch a full set were; Dirt Dress,  Feeding People, Tomorrow's Tulips, Audacity, and Pangea.
